Miriam Young is a French Botanical Perfumer, Natural Perfumer, and founder of Theoria Gold Perfumes, working exclusively with natural botanical materials — essential oils, absolutes, resins, and plant extracts — to create fragrance in the classical French tradition. With over 27 years of experience working with plants, her practice bridges natural perfumery and herbal medicine, bringing a rare depth of plant knowledge to every composition.
She is also a Clinical Herbalist and Naturopath, giving her fragrance work a grounding in plant chemistry, biolology, and the sensory relationship between scent and wellbeing that few perfumers bring to the craft.
A French Perfumery Education
Miriam trained in classical French perfumery in Paris under a fourth-generation French perfumer, learning composition, structure, and the disciplined craft of working with natural raw materials — a lineage of technique passed down through generations of French perfumery houses. This training remains the structural foundation of every Theoria Gold fragrance.
Her education didn’t stop in the perfumer’s studio. Miriam has travelled extensively to source, study, and understand botanical materials at their origin — to Grasse, France, the historic centre of world perfumery; to the Seychelles; to Egypt; and throughout the United Kingdom and Australia — seeking out exotic and rare oils, meeting the growers and distillers, and learning the traditional extraction methods behind each material. This first-hand, international approach to sourcing and material knowledge sets her apart as a natural perfumer with a genuinely global perspective.
Theoria Gold Perfumes
Miriam is the founder of Theoria Gold Perfumes, a natural fragrance house creating perfumes made entirely from botanical ingredients — no synthetic aroma molecules. Every fragrance is composed using natural materials sourced internationally, with a particular reverence for Grasse, and built on the classical French perfumery structure Miriam trained in.
Theoria Gold fragrances are known for their balance, clarity, and the way they evolve honestly on the skin over time — a hallmark of true natural perfumery. The current signature collection includes Theoria (a fresh, structured citrus-and-vetiver composition), Rose Aimée (a long-form natural rose, ten years in the making), and Nuit d’Australie (a best-selling 2025–2026 fragrance inspired by the Australian night landscape).

As a Clinical Herbalist and Naturopath with 28 years in clinical practice, and as a French-trained Botanical Perfumer with nearly three decades of hands-on material knowledge, she brings an unusually rigorous, plant-first understanding to fragrance — how each material is grown, extracted, structured, and how it ultimately interacts with the skin and the senses.
